The idle generation

Children in Britain watch more TV than do sport. It is parent’s responsibility to be a good example and to encourage children to do sport. Sedentary lifestyles of youngsters lead to health problems in future life.

Children in England watch five times more TV and play games than do sports and spend time outdoors. The survey findings were borne out by interviewed youngsters. Peter Hogg from London said than he watches about 4 hours of TV a day. He also told that at school he does two hours PE a week. Adam Lee from London said that he watches five hours TV a week and on Saturdays he plays on Sony Playstation for 12 hours, “It excites me more than sport” he added. As survey findings say children watch more TV than do sport, because no one encourages them to do so.

Parents should be responsible to be a good example for children to be active. If the parents give a good example how to be active then the youngsters would take example from their parents. Parents also should encourage their children becoming walking or bike riding to school and other places. It is not enough for parents to convince children to be active with words, they should give them an example how to be active.

Children need to be motivated especially by their parents. Girls watch more TV and boys play more computer games than do sport. British children do less sport than kids in Europe. Youngsters in England like sport stars and think that sport makes you popular, but they still don’t do sport, because they don’t have enough motivation. Sedentary lifestyles of kids in Britain lead to health problems in future life.

In my opinion it is really important for parents to encourage their children to be active. Parent should give example to kids how good and fun is to be active. Also they should allow children or and bike to school or friends house alone. If parents won’t give an example than kids in future life would have serious health problems.
